The top one is the submitted image.

The bottom one is a zoom in on one of the letters so you can see the flying machine in the reflection. I thought it was clever.

Some more stuff. The cup shaped object to the left of the screen is supposed to be a see through glass. I got the effect working for the Cathedral shot below but I was unable to replicate it. Don't know what I am doing wrong. I will just try again until I succeed.

Tooning

Here are some shapes rendered using Toon. Gives the 3D image a 2D cartoon effect.

Week 3 Stuff

Redoing some stuff done in week 3. The MAC crashed at the end of the lesson and I lost what was done.

This is a combination of mentalray renderer, revolve tool and HDR image based lighting.

Head No. 1

A few weeks ago I missed a lesson when we made a head, so I have gone and done one now. My first go at Sculpt Geometry Tool. I will have an other go soon.

nCloth

This week we are using nMesh to create some realistic animation.

Here is a sample of what I have done. The yellow ball and red cube are solid rubber and the red ball is a bag of water. The plane in the background is made from silk.

In this still shot the red ball is made from putty.

Maya Movie

This is a short movie (very short) created as a 3D animation test.

Maya related blogs are from here up - 3D design is so far proving easier than I thought it would be, although because of the ANZAC day holiday I missed out on one class. The makeup lesson was done at the same time as another of my lessons.
So far I have worked on basic shape construction, manipulation and rendering. The lesson I missed included creating a face and a plane. I have not been able to attempt them yet because for some reason I am unable to download the lesson recordings. I will try again using Uni computers tomorrow.

Over Easter

My final logo for my website.

Flash - After getting everything together I was unable to get my website working. No matter what I would try all it would do is flash or just do nothing.

The easter holidays gave me the opportunity to sit down and work on it without interruption. I discarded most of what I had already done and started from scratch. By doing that I was able to work out where I had gone wrong and this time it worked out right.

My initial design was not working plus it would have required allot of extra work so I changed it to a more simple concept. This way I would be able to get it done in time but still have the option to add onto it in the future.

One part of the website requires me to include short movies created by me. Unfortunately the only ones I have available are two lame countdown animations I have made. One made with Photoshop and the other with iPhoto. I did them during my Introduction to multimedia class the other day.

Adobe PS

Flash - It has been a while since by last post (a few assignments from other subjects caught up to me and I needed to get them done).

Since my last posting I have played around with Adobe PS and created a background image for my web site. I have also collected several bits and pieces of my own artwork to include in my site. Now my next step is to start placing it all together.

Adobe Flash

The second week of using flash I am gradually picking up on how it works. I think I need to start using Monday afternoon's to rehash what I learn during the day to help hold onto the new information. I went into the labs last Friday and had difficulty remembering how to create buttons.

Assignment 1

My first homework assignment is to create a flash background. I did most of it Fri arvo and thought I will finish it off today... except my student card wont open the building and I don't have CS3 on my home computer so I will need to finish it Mon morning.
This week has been the first time I have used a Mac and I must say I am enjoying it and may need to convert.

NMD201 Journal

A 1st year student at CDU I have just started a double Degree (B. Creative Arts & Industries New Media Design with B. Information Technology). All together it will take me 4 years and at the end I intend to become an animator.
As a part of New Media Intermediate Studio I will be keeping a journal of what I do in the format of this blog.
This is the first time I have created a blog.
